Cavite’s gateway to the Metropolis is set to hold the first Marching Band Festival on May 6-8, 2011. Blessed with rich cultural heritage and home to some of the most courageous heroes of our country, Bacoor will set a new milestone as it celebrates its annual fiesta with the launching of “The First National Marching Band Competition”. Bands from Bacoor and across the country will showcase original routines, exhibitions and music in what is dubbed as the grandest marching band event.
The festivities will kick off with the launching of an exhibit, serenade of the bands and a street party at the town plaza. Lavish gowns from past “Hermanas” made by top couturiers, photos of famous Bacooreans, and other artifacts showcasing Bacoor’s unique and colorful history will be on display at Bacoor Elementary School Poblacion. Visitors can also enjoy a “kalesa” ride with a personal tour guide, feast on authentic flavors and local delicacies and shop for craft and souvenirs at the Food and Product Expo 2011 at the town plaza.
Other highlights of the event include the children’s festival, musical performances and the much anticipated celebration of Fiesta Karakol. The fiesta will commence with a parade and street dancing in honor of the Virgin of the Holy Rosary. Women dressed in colorful costumes dancing to the rhythm of the music will fill the streets all the way down to the shores of Bacoor Bay where the parade finishes.
The marching band competition will be held on the last day of the festival along Evangelista Street from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will be followed by a Procession of Hermanas and the Awarding Ceremony featuring performances by invited artists and musicians. The festival will culminate with fireworks display at the open space of Star Marine Complex in Barangay Banalo.
