Why not book a last minute break to India before spring arrives to visit at the best time of year? Bounded by the Arabian Sea, Goa is a treasure on the western coastline where palms sway in the breeze and you can listen to the refreshing sounds of the ocean. Holidays to Goa are affordable and offer some much needed relaxation.
Head to Varca Beach and you will discover a resort and traditional fishing village where wooden boats line the shore and the palm-thatched roofs behind the dunes house a local community. Most come to soak up the peace and tranquillity on offer here, where natural beauty can be admired as you rest to take in some sunshine on the loungers and sun beds.
Black lava rocks are interwoven with the sands at Varca and dolphins can often be seen playing in the surrounding waters. A wonderful way to see these bottlenose dolphins leaping out of the water is to take a leisurely cruise on the River Sal in the morning.
Round things off at Varca with some wonderful local cuisine, particularly the seafood and other Goan dishes. Many beach shacks are available where the food is reasonably priced and you can sample delicacies from those who are recognised for their culinary talents. Combine your fish dishes with another of Goa’s delights – the wine is an integral part of the lifestyle here!
Those looking for a real getaway will enjoy the serenity on offer at Varca since it is much quieter than various other Goan resorts. Venturing a little further you will discover another village at Benaulim, slightly more upbeat than Varca for those looking for a livelier excursion but still not as overcrowded as some of the most popular resorts which include Candolim or Anjuna.
