Looc is a small town on the west coast of Tablas Island, the largest island of Romblon. It is a pleasant and friendly town, which boasts a marine sanctuary just five minute’s boat ride away that is well worth visiting. It is also a convenient place to stay overnight if you are planning to catch the 9am ferry from Santa Fe to the emerging beach destination of Carabao Island the next day (there is little in the way of accommodation options in Santa Fe itself).
Probably the best accommodation in Looc town is at Angelique Hotel. This hotel is located conveniently in the town centre on the square, close to the tourism office and markets. The building is two stories and easily spotted by its white paint.
There are around 6 rooms available, starting from P300 for a double fan room. The rooms are basic, but clean and perfectly serviceable, although the bathroom is communal (shared with the other guests of the hotel). The hotel is well appointed and constructed, and still seems to be quite new.
The restaurant downstairs serves reasonably priced food, although the menu is a little limited. It seems to be popular with the locals in the evenings as well. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating, and even helped us move to a new room when ours was overrun by mosquitoes after we left the windows open after dark.
The town is pretty much quite at night. But if you are after some nightlife or videoke, ask around for Robert’s Bar, which is not too far from the hotel.

Our short stop-over at the bucolic town of Looc had been pleasant and relaxing. Leaving the town now on "habal-habal" en route to Carabao Island.
Looc is a friendly and laid-back town and well worth a visit if you happen to be in Tablas Island. At P300 for a night, Angelique’s Hotel is good value for money and recommended, although if you like staying in budget hotels in Philippines, other options are available in the town as well.

I checked in in Angelique Inn last June 24, 2010 and had the most horrifying experience of my life. One of my cellphones was stolen inside my room and to think its placed inside my bag. Sadly it’s new! My wife gave it to me as her Father’s Day gift. I went out that afternoon to go to an internet cafe to email some important docs because smartbro has no use in the area bec of the weak signal. The municipality normally experience 3x brown out everyday, so frustrating. There is an inside job in the hotel that when a guest go out for a walk or something, that’s the time thieves go to rooms to get what they want. So if you’re planning to get a hotel, I suggest you go to Ceasar’s. The building may look like not yet fully complete but the rooms are cozy and clean or you may check in at your “Own Risk” at Angelique inn. Just a piece of advise.
Thanks Japs for sharing your experience. I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience here. It’s always a good idea to bring your valuables wherever you go especially if you’re checking-in in cheap and backpacker’s lodges. It could be a bit of a pain but it pays in the long run. I had a similar experience in a hotel in Bangkok. I lost my Ipod which I hid well inside my luggage after leaving it at the reception when we went to visit the Grand Palace. I also left my phone in my room in the same hotel and didn’t find it anymore when I came back. So now I carry all my important stuff everywhere even on a dayhike no matter how heavy they are.
HAHAHAHA IF THIS IS YOUR MOST HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE YOU WASN’T AROUND MUCH. LIFE AND LEARN AND REMEMBER YOUR IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY.
STAYED THERE MYSELF A FEW TIME NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNLUCKY YOU
HAVE FUN

Stayed at Angelique twice in October last year. Loved it, nothing stolen. Staff friendly and room was comfortable. Lovely little town and a visit the fish sanctuary was a highlight of my trip. Just go there and be careful.
Enjoy talaga yung sanctuary nila, mura pa ang renta ng banka at gamit.
