If you will base the percentage of church attendance of the different religions of each country as being religious then this is the result of the survey by the World Values Survey. This was based on the percentage of adults surveyed who claimed that they attend church services one or more times per week.
Rank Countries Amount
1 Nigeria 89%
2. Ireland 84%
3. Philippines 68%
4. South Africa 56%
5. Poland 55%
6. Puerto Rico 52%
7. Portugal 47%
7. Slovakia 47%
9. Mexico 46%

Ireland? hindi kaya!! I don’t believe that survey..
pagpunta ko dun last 2008, halos walang nagsisimba sa kanila.
yeah, madami and mas magaganda churches nila dun pero I personally can say na di sila yung 2nd most religious country. mga matatanda lang karamihan nagsisimba sa kanila, ages 50 and above. and karamihan sa mga simbahan dun, ginagawa na lang na museum kasi wala na masyado nagsisimba. mahal pa ng entrance fee ng mga simbahan dun turned museum. aabot ng 8-15euro. tourist spots na lang ang mga simbahan dun ngayon.
it is stated kasi on the post:
***”percentage of church attendance of the different religions of each country as being”***
“This was based on the percentage of adults surveyed who claimed that they attend church services one or more times per week.”
How can someone choose church attendance as a sign of being religious? That is absolutely ridiculous. Being religious is not about going to church, is about practicing what your religion is teaching. “Do to others as you would have them do to you” was one of Jesus most important teachings (if not THE most). I’ve lived in the Philippines and Nigeria and these preaching does not exist; people treat others from lower classes like sh.t. and don’t even get me started on corruption levels. Those are 2 hypocritical societies!
philippines dapat ang mauna kasi relihiyoso mga tao d2
So glad God is still remembered in some countries. Well Done South Africa we in the top 5
Being religious (country) does not gain/benefit anything. It could be seen as being superstitious or deluded.
I vote for Saudi Arabia
@Champ “Do to others as you would have them do to you”
Umm.. it was actually Confucious who said this hundereds of years before Jesus was born.
hahahha, o someone has violent reaction against Ireland, well dear simba lang yan ang actually has nothing to do with spirituality, u remember when they used to check your attendance in St. Mary’s, i bet u got perfect attendance. Does that make you religious? i don’t know but for those who do attend church religiously, i have no problem with them either. This is just statistics and we can actually learn many things from it like the relationship of their socio-economic status and their devotion to their religions and so on.
yep i guess it’s the ratio of the population, we have more church goers because we have bigger population but if you will compare it to Ireland, they have fewer because they have smaller population but overall their percentage is bigger, for example in our small town 600 Filipinos went to church out of 2000 people while in in Ireland 300 went to church out of 500, Ireland will still have a higher rank.
Well said Champ, I agree with u about the golden rule and that spirituality has nothing to do with dogmas and rituals. But living in the Philippines or Nigeria no matter how terrible your experience had been does not give you the right to judge their people. It has nothing to do with hypocrisy either. It is just the same with other countries that have the same problems but they just treat religion as source of hope more than a reforming factor in their lives.
